How to look sexy, yet stylish

Classy Cute Slutty Pretty Sexy

Clothing should be classy, yet comfortable. Too revealing leaves nothing to the imagination and therefore is also not attractive.

If you are overweight, don’t wear clothes that are too tight or too loose. For every shape and size, there is a comfortable style. Wear clothes in your size and you will be sure to look good.

A well-fitting pair of jeans in each colour can be dressed up or down with a different blouse and shoes and you will never go wrong.

Dresses and skirts are feminine and attractive.

Nailcare

Dark nail colours are not suitable to young girls as it could create an image of maturity beyond your age, which could make the wrong idea with men. A clear nail polish, perhaps a light pink or French manicure looks beautiful on young hands and is suitable for special occasions too.

Nails should also not be too long. If you face the palm of your hand, your nails should not stick over the back more than 1cm. File the nails square and not round as this strengthens nails. Chewing your nails is a big no-no!

Be sure to keep your cuticles pushed back and your hands moisturised. Put on lotion each time you wash your hands. A woman’s age first shows on the neck and hands!

Toenails should also be kept trimmed, however you can go for a dark pink polish here.

Goldie Locks

If your hair looks good, it will be the first thing people notice about you and if your hair is bad, that will also be the first thing people notice about you.

Your hair should be trimmed every 4-6 weeks and if you have long hair, you need to have it cut into style every 6 months.

Healthy, clean hair is a great beauty tool and so versatile, especially long hair.

Hair should be as natural as possible. My natural hair colour is mousy – or ‘ash blonde’ as professionals call it. I like to add highlights, sometimes. The idea is that your hair colour should match your natural colouring and it can be slightly enhanced to bring out your beauty, not to make you look completely different.

A new fashion trend is to colour your hair as white, black or red as possible and sometimes even all of the above simultaneously. Chopped styles are also fashionable. Nothing unnatural is ever attractive – stick to natural and you’ll be sure to look good.

Hair standing on end, stiff with styling products is just not cool – it is so 80’s. Everyone who has hair understands that you are at the mercy of the elements and that the wind can play havoc, especially with long hair. Let your hair breath! Rather use a scrunchy to keep it in place and carry a brush on you to tidy it up.

Also be careful with frequent blow-drying and straightening. Let your hair rest and breathe and be sure to use products suited to your hair type, such as shampoo and conditioner for ‘colour treated hair’ and heat resistant products if you are going to blow-dry and straighten.

Health and beauty

Finally, a lighter topic! Here we get to chat about some girly stuff…

We will start with some skin-care pointers:

By the age of 16 you should be using a skin-care range that compliments your skin type. Many teenage girls have problem skin what with all the hormone fluctuations. It is only natural, do not obsess about it. More importantly, do not squeeze pimples as it just makes things worse and scars are sometimes permanent.

Be sure to use a skin-care program especially formulated for young skin. Upon waking up, unless you went to bed with make-up, you only need to use some lukewarm water. You should use the skin-care programme after gym and before you go to bed.

Always remove your make-up before bed and use a special spot-cream for young skin.

On the note of make-up, the key is ‘less is more’. If you take good care of your skin, you only need a light layer of brown mascara and a smudge of lip-gloss. The idea is to enhance your natural beauty, not the turn yourself into someone else.

You may be tempted to cover up with foundation and concealer, but do not give in to this habit. It simply blocks your pores more and will cause more pimples and blackheads.

Always use sunscreen on your face and your whole body. From age 25 up, you should start using an anti-ageing cream.
